A picture is worth a thousand words! Enhance communication and visual literacy by learning simple techniques for gathering and manipulating images using the Internet, digital cameras and scanners. Edit images with Adobe Photoshop Elements and then use your images in applications such as emailing, printing, PowerPoint & Word.
PhotoShop Elements Basics
I. Opening Photoshop Elements
Photoshop Elements opens with a Welcome Screen. From this screen, you can:
  • Create a New File.
  • Browse to open file(s).
  • Connect to a camera or scanner to import photos for editing (Acquire).
  • Paste an image or screen shot.
  • Follow a Tutorial.
  • Help menu to find answers.

The open option is the best way to find and open an existing file from your computer, a disk or a CD.
New, and Open are also options from within Photoshop Elements (File menu) once you are working in the program.

II. Enhance - The Menu for Instant Results

  • Control-Z is the undo button. Control-Y goes forward.

You can use this button to literally go backward and undo all the manipulation steps you have made so far.

III. Special Effects

Click on the thumbnails below, and save the larger images as files on your computer.

IV. Import from a Scanner (directions).
V. Batch Processing a Folder of Images

Use this quick way to make a group of images all the same resolution, file size, or file type. This is a great way to prepare digital camera images for a PowerPoint Slide Show.

V. Print and Share

1. Image Size - The secret to publishing your photos is understanding Pixel Dimensions and Resolution. Change image size for on-screen viewing (small file size) and for prints (high-resolution, photo quality).

2. Save for Web - From the File menu, choose this option to minimize image file sizes for web pages and on-screen viewing.

3. Create a Web Photo Gallery - How to Palette - Recipes

4. Create a Slide Show
