Quickly Adding Background Sound with
on/off control ...
Method #1:
In the FrontPage editor go to INSERT, Front Page Component and select
INSERT HTML. Remember that you can only use .midi or .wav files for this
purpose.
Paste this code in the INSERT HTML window where you would like the
sound controls displayed on your page:
<embed src="whatever.mid" loop="true" autostart="true" height="25"
width="100" controls="smallconsole">
<noembed>
<bgsound src="whatever.mid" loop="true" autostart="true" height="25"
width="100" controls="smallconsole">
</noembed>
This does not mean that all browsers will display the controls the
same, it depends completely on the plug-in your viewer uses as to how
the controls will look, but this width and height seem to be a fair
compromise between the 2 most used plug-ins in NN and MSIE.
Method #2:
-
Even simpler is using the Windows Media Player
plug-in for FrontPage. Just
download it, install it then open FrontPage.
-
Then place your cursor in the document where you
want to insert the media player then click >>> insert >>> Windows
Media Player.
-
You'll be given the chance to customize the controls
and choose the sound/s you wish to play.
-
You may use mp3, midi, wav or video files with this
method.
Adding background sound
without controls fast ...
To
add background sound to your web page:
1. Click the Normal tab in FrontPage Editor.
2.
Click File on the Menu bar and select Page Properties.

3. Click the General tab in the Page Properties dialog
box. Click the Browse button in the Background Sound section and select
an audio file from the list. If you don't see anything in this list,
this means you don't have any audio files saved on your computer.
4. If you need a good source for sound files, try
searching Google for MIDI files.

5. Decide how many times you want your sound to be
played. Enter this number into the Loop spin control box. If you want
the sound to play continuously, click the Forever check box.

6. Click OK on the Page Properties dialog box.
NOTE:
Think twice before you click the Forever check box. Some sounds
can be very pleasing, while others can be very annoying. What
will it be like for your visitor to hear your audio file over
and over and over and over? Is it the kind of sound that would
be good to hear repeatedly?
Due to the limited amount of time we have in this class, we are
unable to cover this large sub-topic completely. I have provided links
to several excellent resources on the Internet for you to explore on
your own to learn the aspects of inserting sound & video into your pages.
I highly recommend downloading the Windows Media Player Plug-in for
FrontPage 2000+ below for total control over your media files.
