Change and Apply a Theme

Themes are collections of design elements - bullets, background patterns, table borders, fonts and graphics - that you can apply to an entire FrontPage web.

You can apply one of the many FrontPage themes to give your pages a dynamic, colourful and consistent appearance.

To apply a theme to an entire web

  • From the Format menu, select Theme...

The FP 2000-2002 Themes dialogue is displayed (FP2003 is slightly different).

  • Select a theme from the list

You can see a preview of the theme and its graphical elements on the right of the dialogue box.

  • Click OK

The selected theme is applied to all the pages in your current FrontPage web.

Tip: Click the Modify button to customize the theme.

Modify Your Theme

You can modify your theme using your own graphics, color sets, and styles. For example you can change a theme's background picture or page banner's font/font colour.

  1. On the Menu bar, select Format | Theme.
FrontPage 2000&2002:   In the theme list, click a theme you want to change. Click Modify button.
FrontPage 2003: In the Theme task pane, point to the thumbnail for the theme you want to change, and then click the arrow.  Click Customize.
  2. Change the font size for your page banner or navigation bars:
  3. Click Graphics button.  Select Font tab.  In the Item box, click the down arrow, and then select Banner, Horizontal Navigation or Vertical Navigation.  You need to change them in both Normal Graphics view and Active Graphics view.
  4. Change the font color or background color:
Click Colors button.  Select Custom tab.  In the Item box, select an item.  In the Color list, select a color.  Save your changes.
  5. Change theme graphics:
Click Graphics button. In the Item box, select an item.  Click Browse to select a new graphic.
  6. When you have finished editing a theme, click Save As to save the theme as a new theme, or click Save to overwrite the original theme with your changes. Note that you cannot overwrite the original FrontPage themes that are shipped on the FrontPage compact disc. These themes are read-only.
